Het was al niet best met de vrijheid van meningsuiting in het land van vrijheid en democratie, maar als er een constante terroristische dreiging is moeten er offers gebracht worden. Het is daarom niet gek dat een kunstenaar de mond gesnoerd werd toen de directeur van de Chelsea Market-gallerij in New York zijn aanwinst voor een nieuwe expositie, een schilderij met George W. Bush, van dicht bij bekeek.
'This is much deeper than art. This is fundamental American rights, freedom of speech,' Savido said. 'To see that something like this can happen, especially in a place like New York City is mind boggling and scary.'
Extremistische Republikeinen zijn er natuurlijk overal, ook in de blue states.
Over dit schilderij hadden ze ook al wat te zeiken. Dit schilderij kon nog nt, blijkbaar (ah, jammer, geen plaatje). Het mag duidelijk zijn. George W. Bush is een inspiratie voor vele kunstenaars. Bush 1, Bush 2 een gouwe ouwe, ooh, ook al gecensureerd! (check de URL), nog een gouwe ouwe...
